Mind Body Skills Class

This set of two 5-week online classes facilitated by Dr. John Stracks will address different strategies to help you overcome the psychological barriers keeping you from healing.

Studies from the past 20 years have shown that the experience of pain has more to do with our thoughts and feelings than with any specific physical injury or disease. Using a combination of didactic learning, guided exercises, and time for questions, this online Mind-Body Skills class teaches you to recognize the thoughts and feelings that contribute to symptoms, and the knowledge of how that recognition can lead to long-lasting physical relief. Session A focuses on journal writing, meditation, emotions, boundaries, and self-compassion. Session B focuses on perfectionism, catastrophic thinking (2 classes), somatic tracking, and moving forward.

The Mind-Body Skills Class can also be paired with the concurrent Mind-Body Discussion Group. An individual consultation with Dr. Stracks is recommended before or concurrently with the class, and listening to the Mind-Body Medicine Lecture before the class begins is encouraged for best results.
