Meet Heather Mackenzie, LCSW

Heather MacKenzie is a licensed clinical social worker and Certified Human Potential Coach, having completed formal coaching training at the Human Potential Institute. Heather obtained her M.A. in Social Work and a Master of Divinity from the University of Chicago. She is also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and is currently in training to become a Certified Pain Reprocessing Therapist. 

Heather has extensive experience providing therapy in a variety of settings, including private practice, community mental health, and substance abuse treatment settings. She has helped many people deal more effectively with depression, anxiety, stress, grief/loss, trauma, chronic pain, and complex medication conditions.  Heather uses an eclectic, integrative approach, including

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness practice, among others. Well aware of the mind-body connection and the importance of integrated care for healing the whole person, Heather assists clients with identifying and processing difficult past experiences, acquiring the skills to cope with current stressors, and gaining hope for long-term, lasting change for the better. 

When not helping others, Heather enjoys yoga, walking, going to the gym, swimming, reading on a wide variety of subjects, spending time on the Chicago lakefront, and all things Star Trek.
